Ans-

(3) Fill in the blanks:-

(i)The angle of turning during rotation is called……….

(ii)The action of rotation about an axis or centre is called……..

Ans-

(i)The angle of turning during rotation is called the angle of rotation.

(ii)The action of rotation about an axis or centre is called rotation.

(4)Give three examples of daily life which has at least one line of symmetry.

Ans-

The three examples of daily life which has at least one line of symmetry are

(i)Plate

(ii)Eraser

(iii)Mouse (Computer)

(5) Give three examples of daily life which has at least rotational symmetry of order 1.

Ans-

Three examples of daily life which has at least rotational symmetry of order 1 are

(i)Windmill

(ii)Fan

(iii)Hands of clock

(6)Write true or false against respective sentences.

(i)Every object has a rotational symmetry of order 1, as it occupies same position after a rotation of 360 o.

(ii)Every geometry figure has line of symmetry.

(iii)Order of rotation of circle is infinity.

Ans-

(i)Every object has a rotational symmetry of order 1, as it occupies same position after a rotation of 360 o.    True

(ii)Every geometry figure has line of symmetry.    False

(iii)Order of rotation of circle is infinity.        True

(7) Find the line symmetry of a rectangular paper sheet.

Ans-

Paper sheet is rectangle in shape. Therefore, it has two line of symmetry. One is horizontal and other is vertical.

(8) A farmer has a triangular field which is equal from all sides. He wants to divide his field in symmetrical parts. Is it possible? Can he divide its field in more than one way?

Ans-

The farmer has a field which has equal sides. Hence, field is an equilateral triangular in shape. Therefore, he can divide his field in symmetrical parts because an equilateral triangle has three line of symmetry.

Yes, he can divide his field in more than three ways because an equilateral triangle has three line of symmetry.

(9) Is the given figure symmetrical? If yes then give reason? If no, give reason and complete the figure.

Diagram of Question 9 of Worksheet of NCERT Chapter Symmetry

Ans-

The given figure is not symmetrical because the figure does not have mirror image from the line of symmetry. The door is missing from the right side of the figure. Therefore, we have to draw a door of same size and shape on the right side of the line of symmetry to get a symmetrical figure.

(10)A student is trying to divide a scalene triangle in symmetrical parts with out leaving any part of it unused. Is it possible?

Ans-

The student can not divide a scalene triangle in symmetrical parts with out leaving any part of it unused because a scalene triangle has no line of symmetry.
