Properties of Division of Integers

Properties of Division of Integers: Closure Property, Commutative Property, Associative Property, Identity Property and Distributive Property are explained with examples.

Properties of Division

(1)  Closure property-

Division of any two integers not always gives integer. It is known as integers are not closed under division.

Condition for closure property-

x ÷ y = z

Here, x, y and z are integers.

Eg:-

(i) 5 ÷ 3 = 5/3  [not integer]

(ii) 6 ÷ 3 = 2 [integer]

Hence, closure property of integer is not verified under division.
