Prime Numbers are explained.

 

A natural number which can be divided by one and number itself with out leaving remainder is known as prime numbers.

Eg:- 2, 3,5, 7, 11, 13 ,17,19 ,23 etc.

Facts about prime numbers

(i) 1 is not a prime number.

(ii)Zero is not a prime number.

(iii)Two is only an even prime number. Other even numbers are composite numbers.

Method to find a prime number

Example 1-

Check if 22 a prime number.

Step 1 –

Divide 22 by 2

Division

22 is divided by 2 with no remainder.

But , 22 is dividing by 1, 2 and 22[number itself]

Hence 22 is not a prime number.

Example 2-

Check if 29 a prime number.

Step 1 –

Divide 29 by 2

29 can not be divided by 2 without remainder.

Now, try 29 to divide by other prime numbers as 3,5 and so on.

But , 29 can not be divided by any other number without remainder.

Hence, 29 is a prime number.
